An analytical, cross-sectional, retrospective observational study was carried out, with a quantitative approach, to identify factors associated with burn complications among children aged one month to fourteen years old, in the period 2015-2017. The study was carried out in three units (Emergency, Pediatric Surgery and Plastic Surgery) of the Department of Pediatrics of Maputo Central Hospital - Mozambique. The population of this study consisted of 206 children with burns, which is the main cause of hospital admission. The results showed that the group most affected by burns were children between 1 - 4 years old 54.4% (112/206), the main causes of burns were hot liquids 41.7% (86/206) p=0.016 and most of the lesions were of 2nd degree depth (44.2%) p=0.000. Children with flame/fire burns had 2nd and 3rd degree injuries and a longer mean hospitalization (33.72; CI: 27.52; 39.92) p=0.000. Hot liquids are the main cause of burns in children hospitalized in the HCM and mainly affect children under 5 years of age.
