LUCACCIONI, Héloïse; COSTA, Cristina; DUQUE, Mariana Perez and MACHADO, Rita Sá. Descriptive epidemiology of COVID-19 cases in healthcare workers, Portugal, 2020. Rev Port Med Geral Fam [online]. 2021, vol.37, n.4, pp.366-372. Epub Aug 31, 2021. ISSN 2182-5173. https://doi.org/10.32385/rpmgf.v37i4.12979.
Healthcare workers are at high risk of COVID-19 infection due to their professional exposure. To date, there is limited data and evidence on COVID-19 infections among healthcare workers in Portugal. We described the characteristics of healthcare workers reported as confirmed cases of COVID-19 during the first months of the national surveillance in Portugal (January-May 2020). We conclude with recommendations to improve surveillance of COVID-19 among the health workforce.
