Abstract

CANELO, Maria José. Literature and Culture. Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais [online]. 2018, n.spe2018, pp.217-236. ISSN 2182-7435.  https://doi.org/10.4000/rccs.7862.

This text presents a discussion on the dynamics between literature and culture, following the forms of approach to these categories in the research developed at the Centre for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra over its forty years of existence. The focus is directed at articles published in the Revista Crítica de Ciências Sociais (RCCS), the journal that has been giving voice to the scientific research conducted at CES since its inception. The emphasis is placed on those articles authored by CES researchers involved in the creation of the Center, for this was the moment when the research guidelines, methodologies and the idea of knowledge to be pursued were first established. The main goal of this article is to identify the role the RCCS has played in the development of the idea conceived by an academic community whose common project was the construction of emancipatory forms of knowledge and the contribution to debates on literature and culture stemming from the definition of that project.
