Abstract

PIMENTEL, Gabriela Sousa Rêgo; BOMFIM, Natanael Reis  and  SANTANA, Jeanne Lopes. Networks of Peripheral Youth Collectives and Socio-Educational Practice. Sisyphus [online]. 2022, vol.9, n.3, pp.30-55.  Epub Dec 13, 2021. ISSN 2182-8474.  https://doi.org/10.25749/sis.24898.

This qualitative, interpretative/descriptive study aimed to investigate the process of formation of youth groups from urban peripheries, in order to unveil socio-educational practices that contribute to the development of Education in Urban Outskirts. The study was supported by the Theory and Method of Social Representations (Jodelet, 2001; Moscovici, 1961) and by the Social Network Theory (Barnes, 1987; Lago Júnior, 2005). The empirical investigation was carried out with 10 groups of peripheral youths, from the city of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil and, to this end, we use the snowball sampling technique, where we apply individual interviews, in person and via cell phone/whatsapp, to leaders and representatives and complement information on the social network Facebook. At first, this information was treated by GEPHI/Cfinder and analyzed using the social networks method. Then, content analysis of the discourse was carried out using the Bardin method (2011) and the results pointed out connections and significant socio-educational practices for the formative process of these young people in Education in Urban Outskirts.

Keywords : social networks; socio-educational practices; urban peripheries; peripheral youth; educational policy.
