The multilingual kamishibai, a didactic resource at the service of language education, may contribute to the development of competences in several areas. This article presents a study that aims to understand the potential of multilingual kamishibai in the development of competences in a non-formal educational context. To this end, a workshop was implemented with 2ndgrade school children. The study is framed within a case study methodological approach. The kamishibais produced and the focus group interviews of the 42 children participating in the study were analysed. The results show that the awareness-raising activities on linguistic diversity, using multilingual kamishibai, enhance the development of competences in heritage languages, school languages and other languages of the children’s interest; knowledge of different areas; and positive attitudes towards languages and otherness.
