Resumen

SOUSA, Manuel Benjamin Monteiro Liberal. Cyborg Youths of High School. Sisyphus [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.3, pp.11-30.  Epub 18-Feb-2024. ISSN 2182-8474.  https://doi.org/10.25749/sis.29302.

When we enter a high school classroom, it is increasingly rare to find a young person who does not have a cell phone. An artifact that seems to function as a prosthesis for these students, practically implanted in their hands, and incorporated into almost all of their cultural practices. By interviewing 168 young people from a public school, through a semi structured questionnaire and through the Discussion Group, this work aimed to identify the perception of students of the first year of a public high school of the city of Santarem/Pa/Brazil about the use of cell phones. After studying the data, it was possible to create the following axes of analysis: 1) Multiliterate Youth, 2) Youth who relate in multiple ways, and 3) Youth involved in consumption practices. As result, it was possible to perceive that cell phones accompany these young people continuously, are part of their lives and activities related to their youthful condition, being, to a certain extent, determinant in the occurrence of these practices.
