Abstract

VELOSO, Braian. Education and Technologies as a Commitment: Propositions to Think About the Study of Technique in an Educational Context. Sisyphus [online]. 2024, vol.11, n.3, pp.89-108.  Epub Feb 18, 2024. ISSN 2182-8474.  https://doi.org/10.25749/sis.29403.

The objective of this theoretical essay is to analyse the relationship between education and technologies and to propose a new form of apprehension in light of the so-called commitment as an analytical category. In order to achieve what it aims at, the article rescues contributions from the philosophy of technique, going through the instrumentalist, determinist and substantivist aspects until reaching the perspective of a critical theory. Through the study, the notion of technology as commitment is proposed, showing that technologically mediated action takes place in a circuit of interactions and exchanges, both material and symbolic. By unveiling this commitment that underlies the very presence of technique in the educational field, the essay proposes the concept of assuming commitment as a prerequisite for the construction of democratic spaces for debate that enable committed subjects to make decisions about socio-technical alternatives that bring other frames to the historical-social reality.
