Abstract

SANTOS, João Garrido et al. Intrapancreatic Extramedullary Plasmacytoma Mimicking Primary Pancreatic Neoplasia. Acta Radiol Port [online]. 2022, vol.34, n.3, pp.17-19.  Epub Dec 30, 2022. ISSN 2183-1351.  https://doi.org/10.25748/arp.26544.

Extramedullary plasmacytomas are uncommon plasma cell tumors that present outside the bone marrow. The most common site where they have been found is the upper respiratory tract, while pancreatic involvement is rare. There are no specific imaging findings and usually the definite diagnosis requires biopsy. They have a good response to radiation if they are localized; when they occur as part of multiple myeloma, their outcome is dismal.

In this report, we describe a case of a pancreatic plasmacytoma in a male patient with underlying multiple myeloma in progression and history of distal pancreatectomy due to a neuroendocrine tumor, focusing on imaging findings.
