Abstract

SOUSA, Jessica et al. Cocaine-Induced Atraumatic Splenic Rupture. Acta Radiol Port [online]. 2023, vol.35, n.3, pp.20-22.  Epub Dec 29, 2023. ISSN 2183-1351.  https://doi.org/10.25748/arp.29366.

The most frequent cause of splenic rupture is trauma. Rarely do spontaneous splenic ruptures occur.

The authors report the case of an atraumatic splenic rupture following a recent intranasal cocaine abuse that highlights the importance of a detailed social history, since early diagnosis and treatment can produce a positive outcome.
