After signing the urban fire within the context of the history of the police in Ancient Regime, this article aims to identify, through the Municipal Archive of Lisbon documentation, the development of prevention and combating fires from the Restoration to the end of the reign of José I. In addition, it also allows to evaluate the exchange of information between local authorities and the central government, the main actors of this police issue a capital of the Ancient Regime
