Nobleman's house, bourgeois palace, multifamily building, college, elementary school, government building. The multiple lives of Machadinho Palace reflects the social, political and architectural history of Lisbon of the last 400 years. Following the footsteps of Júlio de Castilho work on this building done over a century ago, this paper answers the urgency to have a deeper look at the many ways its architecture, decor and way of living have changed across time. Ever so much more relevant in a time where a new use for the palace is planned.
