Abstract

BONIXE, Luís. Radio journalism and innovation - an analysis of coverage of media events. Media & Jornalismo [online]. 2020, vol.20, n.36, pp.153-169. ISSN 1645-5681.

Migrating to digital platforms has created a number of new challenges for journalistic media who are at the level of their routines, languages, ethics and training of their professionals. Portuguese news-radio are, of course, not unrelated to this context and, driven by these challenges, has adopted various strategies in the field of media innovation. These practices relate to the creation of new media products and the use of tools that are not part of the original expressive code of the radio medium, based only on sound. Through the analysis of the coverage of three media events, which present themselves as field for the experience and adoption of new media practices, we tried to understand how Radio Renascença, TSF and Antena 1 created new ways of storytelling and generated new narratives. and journalistic products that shape innovative models and practices in Portuguese news-radio.
