MANGANA, Rafael; PINEIRO-NAVAL, Valeriano  e  MORAIS, Ricardo. The framing studies in the communication research context: an analysis of the main Brazilian and Portuguese scientific journals. Media & Jornalismo [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.38, pp.241-260.  Epub 30-Jun-2021. ISSN 1645-5681.  https://doi.org/10.14195/2183-5462_38_12.

The theory of framing has gained, since its emergence, a growing preponderance in the vast field of Social and Human Sciences. International studies support this and underline the importance given to this theory in the context of communication research. It is a theory that is used to study various themes, through various methodological techniques, constituting itself as an important instrument for understanding the media phenomena.

In this paper we point out the importance this theory has gained in Portuguese and Brazilian studies, representing, for 2007-2016 decade, the publishing of 135 papers in 34 of the main Portuguese language magazines of the communication sciences.

Through the results of the content analysis here performed, the force of the paradigm emerges, which is preferably worked in association with political and gender issues, in an empirical way and having as object of study the traditional press.
