The article synthetizes the transformations of the Brazilian journalism in the 1980s, prioritizing the changes that have affected directly the journalists’ professional practice. The aim of the text was to distinguish these transformations, correlating the historical context to the alterations in journalistic production, exercising methodological options to construct a history of the journalism of the present time. Moreover, we discussed the anachronism, that is basic to the ones who perform historic interpretations, and we analyzed the Folha de S.Paulo’s modernization project, adopted that time and exported as a model to other journal companies of all Brazilian regions.
