PAIVA, Raquel  e  MARTINS, Gizele. FRENTE MARÉ: The Strength of New Collectives in the Context of Uncivil Society and Covid-19. Media & Jornalismo [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.42, pp.39-52.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1645-5681.  https://doi.org/10.14195/2183-5462_42_2.

The presence of the new collectives as a force of action in the Brazilian social structure was consolidated from March 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic. In Brazil, the return of collectives began in the 90s, markedly around racial and gender issues, mainly with a direct action in society and also with awareness movements, with study groups and lectures. However, the pandemic and the political and economic context in the country demanded energetic action in regions historically marked by government abandonment. In this context, numerous collectives were created in the city of Rio de Janeiro and even in several cities. The focus here is Maré Mobilization Front and its performance in the various waves that marked the pandemic.

Palavras-chave : citizenship; collectives; community-communication; slum.
