RIBEIRO, Catarina Terraquente  e  SEBASTIAO, Sónia Pedro. The European Ecological Pact and Public Communication on Climate Change: A Case Study of the Lisbon City Council. Media & Jornalismo [online]. 2023, vol.23, n.42, pp.125-145.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1645-5681.  https://doi.org/10.14195/2183-5462_42_7.

The developed study aims to explore the public communication of the Lisbon City Council (LCC) with a focus on climate change. The specific objectives are to highlight the environmental themes addressed in LCC’s public communication, to allow comparison with the goals of the EU Green Deal. In this sense, the study tends to be deductive and comparative. In order to fulfil the objectives, a mapping of the communication initiatives was carried out, through documentary research and direct observation. The contents shared on the official LCC pages on social networks are identified and systematized on their Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn profiles, as well as on the Facebook and Instagram pages of Lisboa Capital Verde 2020. Direct observation of LCC events was held between October 2021 and March 2022. This involved observing and recording events based on an original theoretical model guiding data collection. The results of the subsequent thematic analysis show LCC’s concern about addressing the various environmental themes focused on the EU Green Deal, with, however, a sub-approach to issues of health and well-being and digital transformation.
