Since 2019, the party led by André Ventura has been disruptive in the national political scene and contradicted the thesis of the Portuguese impermeability (Mudde, 2020; Serrano, 2020) to the election of populist parties. Thus, this work intends to analyze one of the communication strategies in particular: the doctrinal publication Folha Nacional of the Chega party. Through a thematic analysis complemented with a brief content analysis, our study focuses on two dimensions: the publication’s agenda and the protagonists of the covers. Therefere, we will seek the answer to the following questions: 1) What are the main themes highlighted?; 1.1) What is the thematic proximity with the ‘populist agenda’ of far-right populist parties?; 2) Who are the main characters? and 2.1.) How are the different protagonists framed?. Above all, we noticed that the publication is mostly used to criticize opponents.
