Resumen

TOMADA, Inês; FERREIRA, Rita Morais  y  REGO, Carla. Decrease of Appetite of Nonorganic Origin in Toddlers. Acta Port Nutr [online]. 2015, n.1, pp.10-14. ISSN 2183-5985.

The healthy growth and development of children is decisively influenced by food. The progressive exposure of children to new and different food tastes and textures, and the establishment of healthy food habits early in life, are crucial to the eating behavior in the future. After the first year of life, due to the reduction in growth rate, children often present appetite fluctuation, or even its temporary diminution. A healthy child, who apparently eats small amounts of food, or refuses some foods, is cause of concern to parents/caregivers, which leads them to ask for practical solutions from health professionals. In this context, in order to reflect on the eating problems that occur in childhood and sharing our experience in this field, it is presented four case reports of decrease of appetite of nonorganic origin in toddlers.

Palabras clave : Appetite; Food neophobia; Food refusal; Toddlers.
