The consumption of food supplement by exercises has increased over the years, making this practice common in gyms. This study aimed to verify the prevalence of consumption of supplement by practicing physical exercises of a gym in Volta Redonda - Brazil. Cross-sectional study, carried out from 2021 May to July, through the application of a questionnaire. A total of 151 participants were evaluated, most of whom were women who performed exercise for aesthetic outcomes. Most (n = 114) use or have used some nutritional ergogenic, the most reported being Whey Protein (n = 100). Associations were found with sex, marital status, income, occupation, concern with food and number of meals consumed. Regarding effectiveness, a strong correlation was found between goals achieved and prescription by a nutritionist, as well as the absence of side effects and prescription by a nutritionist. It’s concluded that there was a high prevalence of use of food supplement, especially for those aiming for aesthetic outcomes.
