Abstract

MIGUENS, Rebeca  and  JORGE, Rui. IMPACT OF FOOD EDUCATION IN THE REDUCTION OF FOOD WASTE IN SCHOOLS: A NARRATIVE REVIEW. Acta Port Nutr [online]. 2022, n.31, pp.68-71.  Epub July 22, 2023. ISSN 2183-5985.  https://doi.org/10.21011/apn.2022.3111.

The loss and/or food waste, which is considered a major problem worldwide, has been one of the cause for the imbalance of the planet and those who inhabit it. This review article aims to evaluate the effectiveness of some strategies in reducing food waste in schools. Because the school is the place where students have most of their meals, it becomes the ideal environment for the development of projects that make students aware of healthier and more sustainable eating habits. According to the review carried out, participatory strategies seem to be effective in changing children's and adolescents' behavior. However, it will be possible to study more than the reduction of the deadline and the main objective the reduction of food waste.
