CORREIA, Ana; GRACA, Daniela; CALDEIRA, Elisabete  and  GUERREIRO, Gonçalo. COVID-19: The resolution of the IPO Lisbon Pediatric Unit. Revista Onconews [online]. 2021, n.43, pp.50-56.  Epub Dec 01, 2021. ISSN 1646-7868.  https://doi.org/10.31877/on.2021.43.05.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put serious pressure on healthcare institutions, becoming one of the main concerns of the scientific society, and in general, since it has consequences for all levels of care.

As knowledge about the virus evolves, so do the choices, generating inconsistencies, difficulties and the need for change and adaptation. Thus, it is urgent to provide guidance to health professionals and families of children with oncological disease on the adaptations of health services, protecting the health and safety of the team, children and families.

This article addresses the response of the Pediatric Service of Instituto Português de Oncologia de Lisboa Francisco Gentil (IPOLFG) to the current pandemic context, as a reference center for the treatment of children with cancer, in order to continue the provision of quality and excellent medical and nursing care, meeting the specific needs of children and their families.

Keywords : COVID-19; pediatrics; cancer; health policy.
