The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is the body that will assume the investigation of the criminal offences affecting the financial interests of the European Union. This function will be essential for the process because EPPO will be intervene in all procedural phases. The investigation of the facts highlight the other competences conferred by the legislator.

However, it is necessary to specify which are the offences whose investigation has been allocated within the EPPO. We need to know the criteria that, in case of concurring, can alter the initial competence and, in this sense, the legislator regulates the right of avocation and transfer of proceeding to the national authorities when the circumstances of the case so require.
