This paper investigates the possible types of companies for the single member state-owned enterprises, examining the main doctrinal divergences and normative texts that regulate this subject, including the legal regime of state-owned companies, Law 13.303/2016. In order to do so, the scenarios in Brazilian law are analyzed over time, with special attention being paid to the changes resulting from the administrative reforms of 1967/1969 (introduced by Executive Orders 200 and 900) and 1998, established by 19th Amendment of the Brazilian Constitution. It is predominantly used the deductive method with bibliographical and documentary research, with a theoretical approach, using the orthodox legal sources, that is, legislation, specialized literature and jurisprudence of the Brazilian courts.
