The advancement of the medical sciences has created new borderline situations between life and death, necessitating the study of the legal document called a vital will whose purpose is to establish the anticipated directives of will regarding health care choice with regard to the prolongation or not of the artificial life, in moments in which the patient can not express his will. The object of study is present in several foreign legislations, highlighting their relevance and diverse characteristics, providing us with a diverse juridical framework, always on the viewpoint of the preservation of human dignity, even if it is in the last phase of life.
