Globalization results from the interrelation of countries that exchange social, cultural and economic aspects. The economy, in this case, represents the main source of development, representing an advance or obstacle to sustainable development that involves environmental aspects that currently represent a topic of international interest, as the effects of environmental deterioration are a cross-border issue. In view of the above, the objective of this study is to verify how the Latin American countries make use of the traditional economy, deteriorating the environment, separating sustainable development from its policies, confirming that the vast majority of countries make use of an economy. Which harms through the extraction of natural resources, without measuring the environment and its balance, avoiding the integral development. The adopted methodology was deductive, descriptive and qualitative, supported by national and international reports, reports and studies.
