Abstract

The WTO (and the GATT before it) was created to regulate the international trade relations and solve the conflicts created by the treaties firmed in it. It’s history and structure are immensely relevant to understand the Organization’s actions recently, witch, by the study of different authors such as Marceau, Howse and Petersman, shows the possibility of integrating it to the context of human rights protection, comprehending the difficulties and also the necessity of doing so. The present essay intents to establish the WTO’s history, since the creation of the GATT, its functioning and organization, as well as to work the vision of the aforementioned authors in the integrations of the human rights into the WTO’s Dispute Settlement Body.
