Abstract: Advance in technology has transformed the way legal services are provided. Innovation has been the engine driving the rising of a new model of law practice, different from the traditional one, with the active participation of legal startups, known as lawtechs or legaltechs. In Brazil, this movement, focused on more flexibilization in law practice, including its commercialization, clashes with its rigid regulation and with the Judiciary's understanding. This article outlines the challenges of advocacy in Brazil, discussing the existing regulation and the limits imposed on this new modus operandi of the activity, accelerated by the pandemic of COVID-19. In an increasingly virtualized business environment and with broad access to technological tools, flexibility in the way of exercising legal activity, even admitting its commercialization, is a trend already observed in other countries. Resisting to this movement means moving out of pace with the evolution of law practice.
