This article presents an analysis of the doctor-patient relationship and the guarantee of informational self-determination by legislation as a direct reflection of the exercise of citizenship. IndeEd. the main objective of the article is to demonstrate that the legal guidelines drawn up by the State have, over the years, enabled patients to exercise their citizenship in a more equitable manner. The methodology used will be doctrinal and legislative research, using the bibliographical and argumentative methods. As a result, we understand that the legal guidelines established after the promulgation of the Federal Constitution were decisive for patients to obtain the social right to health in its fullness, in particular because of the guarantees that these state regulations providEd. having true realization of their citizenship through mechanisms of self-determination, especially the informative one.
