The modus operandi of the purchasing role of the collector, being individual, fickle and interactive in its nature, continues to present an important analysis topic specifically in its recognition and qualification. Based on a range of experiences and testimonies from primary sources, this article aims to observe the environment that has characterized the art market in Portugal in recent years, quantify clearly and objectively business practices and acquisition strategies, and to establish a critical thought in order to interpret and organize the data on qualitative syntheses, which offer census and systematization in the analysis.
