Abstract

CORREIA, Paulo Costa; CABRAL, Liliana Coutinho; VALE, Maria João  and  SANTOS, Maria Luís. Endoscopic Drainage in Infected Pancreatitis Abscess: Case Report. Gaz Med [online]. 2021, vol.8, n.1, pp.44-48.  Epub May 11, 2021. ISSN 2183-8135.  https://doi.org/10.29315/gm.v8i1.392.

Acute pancreatitis is an entity with a varying spectrum of presentation and severity. The presence of abscesses with or without infected pancreatic necrosis is an important factor of morbidity and mortality. Scientific evidence supports minimally invasive techniques as the first-line treatment.

We present a clinical case of acute pancreatitis abscessed with infected necrosis in which the patient (in addition to the supportive medical treatment) was submitted to a transendoscopic ultrasound with puncture, drainage, removal of necrotic tissue and washing with complete resolution of the clinical picture.
