Abstract

The present investigation, has the purpose to study the association between physical exercise, obesity and the self-esteem, tends as objective to notice the way as these varied are associated. For such, a sample of 382 participants, 199 female and 183 male, with ages understood between the 18 and the 74 years of age. Was considered we also had in bill the literary qualifications and the marital status, in way we obtain a representative sample of the population. With the objective of we measure the physical exercise used the questionnaire Physical Activity Measure, for us to evaluate the obesity used IMC (Index of Corporal Mass) and for the variable of the self-esteem was used Rosenberg’s Scale. The results indicate that a significant correlation doesn’t exist between the physical exercise and the self-esteem and between the physical exercise and IMC, with values of correlation of -.011 e .006, respectively. As the values of the correlations are not significant statistical, we reached the conclusion that the results don’t confirm the previous studies.
