BATUCA, Ana Marta; ZANGAO, Maria Otília e CAEIAS, Cláudia. Alterations of metabolism in twin pregnancy: case report. RIIS [online]. 2022, vol.5, n.1, pp.113-123. Epub 30-Jun-2022. ISSN 2184-1578. https://doi.org/10.37914/riis.v5i1.160.
Background:
during pregnancy, physiological adaptations occur that can cause changes in maternal metabolism, and the intervention of nurses is essential to improve maternal-fetal quality of life.
Objective:
to develop a proposal for a nursing care plan focusing on twin pregnancy, gestational diabetes, and fetal growth restriction.
Methodology:
case study referring to a 40-year-old female patient who underwent a transversal segmental cesarean due to fetal growth restriction 1 and diabetes mellitus. For data collection, the Theoretical Model of Nancy Roper was used and for the realization of the Nursing Care plan, the taxonomy of the International Classification for Nursing Practice and the nursing interventions supported by the Nursing Interventions Classification were used.
Results:
based on the initial assessment, twelve nursing diagnoses were identified, of which we chose to address nursing diagnoses: 1. Current anxiety; 2. Change in energy metabolism.
Conclusion:
the role of the nurse is fundamental in educational actions to promote health, in the sense not only of surveillance but also of continuity of care after childbirth and also in the management of anxiety, as it positively conditions the transition to the parental role.
