The objective of this paper is to reflect on the challenges in Communication during the pandemic of the new coronavirus in Brazil, providing data on the increase of Internet access during the period of social isolation, the misinformation spread in message exchange applications and the possible impact of these phenomena - together with the information mismatch between the Federal Government and State administrations - in the spread of the disease that killed more than 515 thousand Brazilians until June 2021. In addition, it’s also discussed that the Official Communication of the Brazilian Government, which changed the way of disclosing the number of deaths and cured during a pandemic; and the importance of traditional journalism to keep the population informed during the period.
