Abstract

Introduction: Auriculotherapy is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that can be used for the treatment of mental and mental disorders with high preventive and therapeutic value; Goals: to analyze the effects of auriculotherapy on the promotion of mental health in users of Primary Health Care in a city in the interior of the Triângulo Mineiro Region - MG, Brazil. Methods: Research project of explanatory sequential mixed methods that will be carried out in a matrix health unit with users who have emotional and / or psychic complaints. In the quantitative stage, data will be collected by WHOQOL-bref before each of the 12 Auriculotherapy sessions. At the end of these sessions, the same questionnaire will be re-applied, and the data will be analyzed by descriptive statistical analysis. In the qualitative stage, the quantitative results will be used to refine the qualitative questions in the semi-structured interview script. Qualitative data will be analyzed by thematic content analysis. At the end of the analysis of the qualitative data, the connected results will be interpreted, which will consist of a summary of the interpretation of the quantitative and qualitative results to discuss to what extent and in what ways the qualitative results help to explain the quantitative results; Results: Data collection has not yet been carried out, as it will start in April, after a qualification exam by the Psychiatric Nursing program at the University of São Paulo; Conclusions: This research may provide knowledge that supports the viability of the application of Auriculotherapy as an aid in the treatment of emotional and psychological problems, based mainly on its action to promote mental health.
