Introduction: Pandemics such as the one that occurred by Sars CoV-2 reveal the importance of studies on types of training, Continuing Education actions offered to healthcare professionals to face adverse situations and also to overcome old dilemmas, such as the focus on training and educational activities for the eradication or attenuation of emergency sanitary situations. Objective: to investigate the profile of healthcare professionals and their relation with Continuing Education activities, with special attention to community health agents. Method: This is a qualitative study, which included a semi- structured interview and the use of quantitative data on the social profile of the participating professionals. The study had the participation of 62 professionals from different categories. Results: The social profile of professionals does not appear as a relevant factor in the planning, elaboration and in the methodological teaching strategies of Education actions; it was found, among the interviewees, an association established between material shortage and lack of information about correct nutrition, justifying the appearance of diseases such as hypertension; there is an imprecision among the interviewees regarding the themes and the importance of the educational activities they attended. Conclusion: the imprecision of the importance of educational actions, by the interviewees, in the transformation of their practice and in the forgetting of the themes proposed in these actions and the prejudices revealed related to the population of lower classes, evidences the relevance of the implementation of the National Policy of Permanent Education in Health, in view of the possibility of greater identification of professionals with the actions undertaken from the constant exercise of critical, ethical-political reflection on their practices in the care of the population's health, as well as research with a qualitative approach that addresses the perspective of the individuals, professionals and population.
