Abstract

CALLE, Andrea Alejandra Vargas. Theoretical considerations and modalities to the study of rural families in Latin America. NTQR [online]. 2022, vol.14, e578.  Epub Aug 01, 2022. ISSN 2184-7770.  https://doi.org/10.36367/ntqr.14.2022.e578.

Qualitative studies on the family, aimed at understanding their realities and approaching their intimate facet, are not usually numerous in the academic field; and when dealing with the topic Rural family, it seems that the list is reduced even more. Since qualitative studies allow not only to understand realities, but also to guide in the design of future interventions, it was thought to detect trends in research on rural Latin-American families in the period from 2001 to 2020. For this, a meta-synthesis of primary sources (qualitative research reports) has been carried out, starting from an initial list of 28 studies found thanks to different academic search engines, an initial filtering and subsequent reading of the documents, excluding studies that did not have research reports, lacked qualitative findings, or were not related to the subject of Rural Family. It ended with a list of 5 qualitative studies, whose reading begins with the assembly of a Table of attributes, later a first analysis is carried out, which allows to rescue the striking findings and characteristics of each study separately; The second analysis allows to detect two aspects: the theoretical perspectives around the Rural Family (detection of tendencies regarding the term of rurality); and the methods of approaching them. Finally, a synthesis is made around the relationship between the Rural and the Family, the challenges highlighted by the studies analyzed and some recommendations are explored.
