Introduction: Hip arthroplasty is one of the most common orthopedic surgeries, especially in the elderly population. It is carried out mainly due to the existence of osteoarticular pathology - hip arteritis and frequently due to proximal fracture of the femur. Objectives: To know and summarize the existing knowledge regarding the benefit of rehabilitation nursing intervention in the perioperative period of the person undergoing hip arthroplasty, in order to justify the creation and implementation of rehabilitation nursing programs in the perioperative period of these people. Methods: A Rapid Review was carried out following the Cochrane Collaboration`s guidelines. The following research question was defined, based on the acronym PI(C)O: What are the benefits (Outcome) of the rehabilitation nursing interventions (Intervention) in the perioperative period of the person undergoing hip arthroplasty (Population)? Results: Twelve studies that presented relevant evidence were selected. In the studies, it was possible to identify several rehabilitation interventions that are within the competence of specialist rehabilitation nurses, namely: preoperative teaching and motor rehabilitation sessions, including ADL training. These interventions allow to improve functionality, independence, by increasing muscle strength. They promote comfort, decrease pain and joint stiffness and increase the ability to perform Activities of Daily Living. They also increase the quality of life and satisfaction with health care, allowing a reduction in recovery time and hospital stay. Conclusions: Evidence suggests that the existence of rehabilitation teams in the perioperative period can be beneficial both for clients undergoing hip arthroplasty and for providers of care due to the cost-effectiveness benefits.
