O regime de horário de trabalho e a vida social e doméstica: Satisfação e estratégias de coping - Um estudo numa amostra de enfermeiros

RESUMO

O presente estudo compara trabalhadores com diferentes sistemas de horário de trabalho ao nível da sua satisfação com a vida social e doméstica e das estratégias de coping por si utilizadas para lidar com a vida social, com a vida doméstica, com o sono e com o trabalho. Foi administrado um questionário constituído por três das escalas do Standard Shiftwork Index (Barton et al., 1993) - Situação social e doméstica, Coping e Informação biográfica - a dois grupos de sujeitos. Destes, 60 trabalhavam em sistema de turnos rotativo e 40 em regime de horário fixo diurno, todos enquanto enfermeiros de um mesmo Hospital Distrital Nacional. Os resultados obtidos revelam a existência de diferenças significativas somente no que respeita à adopção de algumas estratégias de coping, sendo discutidos à luz da literatura, da equivalência dos dois grupos e das implicações para futuros estudos e para a prática.

ABSTRACT

The present study compares the satisfaction with social and domestic situation and the strategies to cope with social life, domestic life, sleep and work of people that practice different systems of work schedule. We used a questionare contituted by three of the scales of the Standard Shiftwork Index (Barton et al., 1993) - Social and domestic situation, Coping and Biographic information - with two groups of subjects. 60 of them worked in a rotating shift schedule and 40 in a fixed day schedule. They were all nurses of the same National Hospital. The results show the existence of significative differences only in the adoption of some of the coping strategies and they are discussed in terms of the literature, of the equivalence of the two groups, and of the implications for future studies and practice.
