A Ucrânia e a guerra na Geórgia

O conflito entre a Geórgia e a Rússia teve um impacto directo na região do Grande Mar Negro, em particular na Ucrânia. Mas o Presidente, a primeiro-ministro e a oposição têm posições divergentes sobre o significado do conflito e a resposta ucraniana, que oscilam entre o alinhamento presidencial com a Geórgia e a defesa da intervenção russa, por parte do chefe da oposição. A competição política interna e a indefinição nas relações entre a Ucrânia e a Rússia justificam essas posições.

The Ukraine and Georgia’s war

The conflict opposing Georgia and Russia has a direct impact in the Ukraine. But the President, the Prime Minister and the opposition leader have all chosen different sides and do not agree on what should be Ukraine’s position. The President sided with Georgia while the leader of the opposition supported Russia’s intervention. Those divergences show an acute internal political competition and the fundamental instability of the Ukraine’s relationship with Russia.
