Ensino superior: novos conceitos em novos contextos

Resumo: O ensino superior depara-se actualmente com um novo espectro de desafios, com implicações a nível das instituições, de professores e estudantes, do ensino e da aprendizagem, dando expressão e significado ao imperativo de responder às novas necessidades educativas das sociedades baseadas no conhecimento, e traduzindo-se no enfrentar dos desafios, no saber ler as oportunidades, e mudar. Numa sociedade global e em rede as Instituições de Ensino Superior utilizarão crescentemente as novas tecnologias, que representam simultaneamente uma das principais razões por que a mudança é necessária e oferecem as ferramentas adequadas à reorganização do ensino e da aprendizagem e à reconceptualização dos modelos institucionais, num acerto de passo com a nova sociedade do conhecimento e de um novo paradigma educacional que emerge, também, na educação a distância.

Abstract: Higher education is facing a brand new range of challenges which have relevant implications for institutions, staff, students and teaching and learning, meaning that to meet the new educational needs of knowledgebased societies, higher education has to accept the challenges, seize the opportunities, and change. In a global and networked society higher education institutions will deal with information and communication technology, because it is both one of the main reasons why reform and change are necessary, and it offers adequate tools to the re-organisation of academic education, as well as to the reconception of educational institutions as required by the knowledge society and by a new and emerging paradigm, namely in distance learning.
