The hollow bulb obturator has emerged as the treatment of choice in most patients due to its light weight, decreased stress on the underlying tissues, and decreased patient discomfort. This article presents a technique for fabricating a closed hollow bulb obturator using a laboratory scanner, computer- aided design software, and three-dimensional printing.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="pt"><p><![CDATA[Resumo Várias técnicas foram descritas para a construção de obturadores para reabilitar os pacientes com defeitos maxilares. O obturador de bulbo oco é o tratamento de eleição na maioria dos pacientes devido ao seu baixo peso, reduzida carga nos tecidos subjacentes e menor desconforto para o paciente. Este artigo apresenta uma técnica para a obtenção de um obturador de bulbo oco fechado, usando um scanner de laboratório, um programa de desenho por computador e impressão 3D.]]></p></abstract>
