O presente artigo apresenta uma visão geral dos padrões de migração para Portugal de jogadores de futebol africanos, avaliando a medida pela qual o futebol português tem explorado os recursos futebolísticos das suas antigas colónias africanas e analisando o impacto desta tendência no futebol africano aos níveis local e nacional. Os dados empíricos apresentados têm como base modelos económicos de globalização.

L’article nous donne une vision générale des modèles de migration vers le Portugal de joueurs de football africains, et évalue dans quelle mesure le football portugais a exploité les ressources en footballeurs de ses anciennes colonies africaines, tout en analysant l’impact de cette tendance sur le football africain aux niveaux local et national. Les données empiriques fournies ont pour base des modèles économiques de globalisation.
African football labour migration to Portugal: colonial and neo-colonial resource
This article provides an overview of the football migration patterns between Africa and Portugal. It assesses the extent to which Portuguese football has exploited the football resources of its former African colonies and examines the impact that this trend has had on African football at both the local and national level. The article draws on economic models of globalisation to inform the empirical evidence presented.
