Encontraram-se diferenças significativas de comportamento entre as 30 proveniências, podendo ser esperados aos 8 anos incrementos até 10% em crescimento se forem utilizadas as melhores proveniências em condições semelhantes às do Escaroupim. As proveniências de altitude apresentam melhores características de forma mas crescimento menor. Os resultados deste estudo permitirão seleccionar proveniências para plantações em condições ambientais semelhantes às do Escaroupim e vir a seleccionar genótipos nas proveniências com maior potencial adaptativo para fins específicos de melhoramento.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Maritime pine provenances were evaluated at age 8, in Mata Nacional do Escaroupim. The objective was to evaluate provenance variation, their performance related to adaptative characteristics, to growth and form, and estimation of genetic parameters. Significant performance differences were observed between the 30 provenances. At age 8, increments up to 10% in growth can be expected, when the best provenances are selected for plantations in sites similar to Escaroupim. Highland provenances show better form but smaller growth. Results will allow the selection of provenances for plantations under environmental conditions similar to Escaroupim and further selection of genotypes for improvement in well adapted provenances.]]></p></abstract>

Des différences significatives de comportement entre les 30 provenances ont été détectées. L'utilisation des meilleures provenances en conditions semblables à Escaroupim pourra permettre, à 8 ans, des accroissements en vigueur jusqu'à 10%. Les provenances d'altitude présentent des caractéristiques de forme supérieures mais de vigueur inférieure. Les résultats de cette étude permettront la sélection de provenances pour des plantations en conditions semblables à celles de Escaroupim et la sélection de génotypes dans les provenances de potentiel adaptatif supérieur pour des buts spécifiques d'amélioration.]]></p></abstract>
