São analisadas as relações entre as proveniências, regiões de proveniência e altitude. As proveniências de altitude apresentam melhores características de forma mas crescimento menor, observando-se o melhor comportamento geral em material com origem em pomares de semente e em Monção. São efectuadas simulações com diferentes números de observações, pretendendo ajustar o número de observações a efectuar em futuras avaliações.]]></p></abstract>

Principal component analysis was used to obtain a graphic representation of the performance of provenances congregating characteristics. A primary selection index was developed aiming at multicharacteristic selection. Relationships between provenances, provenance regions and altitude were also analysed. Highland provenances show better form but reduced growth, whereas material originating from seed orchards and Monção reveal the best general performance. Simulations with different numbers of observations were made, in order to adjust the number of observations that should be made in future evaluations.]]></p></abstract>

Les relations entre les caractéristiques, régions de provenance et altitude sont analysées. Les provenances d'altitude présentent de meilleures caractéristiques de forme mais vigueur inférieure et le meilleur comportement général appartient au matériel originaire des vergers à semences et de Monção.
