<body><![CDATA[<p><b>Introdu&ccedil;&atilde;o</b></p>

	    <p>A esp&eacute;cie <i>Asphodelus bento&#45;rainhae</i> P. Silva (P. Silva, 1956) &eacute; um endemismo lusitano considerado "Em Perigo Cr&iacute;tico de Extin&ccedil;&atilde;o" de acordo com crit&eacute;rios de amea&ccedil;a IUCN. &Eacute; tamb&eacute;m uma esp&eacute;cie priorit&aacute;ria (1840) para conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o e inclu&iacute;da na Conven&ccedil;&atilde;o de Berna.</p>

	    <p>Tem uma &aacute;rea de distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o muito localizada, ocorrendo apenas na vertente norte da serra da Gardunha, dos 490 aos 850 m.s.m (D&Iacute;AZ LIFANTE &amp; BENITO VALD&Eacute;S, 1996; COTRIM <i>et al</i>., 2002) em carvalhais mistos de <i>Quercus pyrenaica</i>, <i>Quercus robur</i>, castin&ccedil;ais de <i>Castanea sativa</i>, em pomares de <i>Prunus avium</i> (terra&ccedil;os e taludes) e em algumas &aacute;reas de pinhal de <i>Pinus pinaster</i>. Em 1996, Pinto Gomes <i>et al.,</i> associou o <i>A. rainhae</i> a habitats de orla nos quais a luz &eacute; necess&aacute;ria para a flora&ccedil;&atilde;o, constatando que o fogo parece estimular a perpetua&ccedil;&atilde;o da esp&eacute;cie.</p>

	    <p>A &aacute;rea de ocorr&ecirc;ncia designada por S&iacute;tio Serra da Gardunha apresenta solos profundos, geologicamente derivados de metamorfismo de contacto dos xisto&#45;grauvaques, menos frequentemente de granitos (ADESGAR, 2004).</p>

	    <p>A variabilidade gen&eacute;tica intra&#45;populacional &eacute; baixa, resultado das baixas percentagens germinativas <i>in situ</i>, comprometendo a adaptabilidade da esp&eacute;cie a altera&ccedil;&otilde;es que ocorram na natureza; pelo contr&aacute;rio a reprodu&ccedil;&atilde;o vegetativa &eacute; a forma preferencial desta esp&eacute;cie se preservar anualmente (COTRIM <i>et al</i>., 2002; ICN, 2006; DELGADO, 2010).</p>

	    <p>As comunidades estudadas inserem&#45;se nas s&eacute;ries de carvalho&#45;negral (<i>Holco mollis&#45;Querco pyrenaicae S.</i>) e de sobreiral (<i>Poterio agrimonioidis&#45;Querco suberis S.</i>).</p>

	    <p>Os principais objectivos deste estudo s&atilde;o:</p>

	    <p>&#45; estabelecer a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre a presen&ccedil;a de <i>Asphodelus bento&#45;rainhae</i> e as diferentes etapas seriais envolvidas;</p>

	    <p>&#45; comparar a diversidade flor&iacute;stica das comunidades de <i>Asphodelus bento&#45;rainhae</i> em situa&ccedil;&otilde;es de carvalhal, castin&ccedil;al e cerejal e avaliar as respectivas consequ&ecirc;ncias para conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o.</p>

<body><![CDATA[<p><b>Metodologia</b></p>

	    <p>A &aacute;rea de distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o de <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i> insere&#45;se no Distrito Zezerense (Subsector Surbeirense, Sector Beirense, Subprov&iacute;ncia Luso&#45;Extremadurense, Prov&iacute;ncia Mediterr&acirc;nica Ib&eacute;rica Central) (Rivas&#45;Mart&iacute;nez, 2007). Do ponto de vista bioclim&aacute;tico, a &aacute;rea de estudo insere&#45;se no andar mesomediterr&acirc;nico superior de ombr&oacute;tipos sub&#45;h&uacute;mido a h&uacute;mido. Seguiu&#45;se o enquadramentio sintaxon&oacute;mico proposto por Rivas&#45;Mart&iacute;nez (2002a).</p>

	    <p>Foram efectuados 25 invent&aacute;rios segundo a metodologia fitossociol&oacute;gica desenvolvida por Braun&#45;Blanquet (1979) modificada por G&eacute;hu &amp; Rivas&#45;Mart&iacute;nez(1981). Foi aplicado o conceito de &aacute;rea m&iacute;nima (a menor &aacute;rea representativa da comunidade) de acordo com Mueller&#45;Dombois &amp; Ellenberg (1974).</p>

	    <p>As comunidades de <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i>, foram comparadas em 4 parcelas de 200 m<sup>2</sup> de carvalhal (40&ordm;07'46,2''N; 7&ordm;30'42,8''W;574 m.s.m), castin&ccedil;al (40&ordm;07'27,0''N; 7&ordm;31'58,8''W;658 m.s.m) e cerejal (40&ordm;07'26,6''N; 7&ordm;31'11,1''W;721 m.s.m). As parcelas de carvalhal t&ecirc;m estado sujeitas ao longo do tempo, a fogo e gest&atilde;o florestal (corte), enquanto que as parcelas de castin&ccedil;al n&atilde;o foram alvo de qualquer mobiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o ou altera&ccedil;&atilde;o h&aacute; mais de 30 anos. Por sua vez, o cerejal &eacute; produzido em modo biol&oacute;gico n&atilde;o lhe estando associada qualquer utiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o de herbicidas.</p>

	    <p>A diversidade espec&iacute;fica, foi avaliada pelo c&aacute;lculo do <i>&iacute;ndice de Shannon</i> (1949) <i>(H'), equitatibilidade (J)</i> e <i>riqueza espec&iacute;fica.</i> Estes &iacute;ndices s&atilde;o uma medida de diversidade local, conhecida tamb&eacute;m por diversidade <i>alpha</i> ou intra&#45;habitat. Permitem, pois, estimar a diversidade das comunidades inventariadas.</p>

	    <p>O <i>&iacute;ndice de Shannon</i> n&atilde;o tem limites superiores estabelecidos (no entanto &eacute; sens&iacute;vel &agrave; presen&ccedil;a de esp&eacute;cies de fraca cobertura) e &eacute; tanto maior quanto maior for o n&uacute;mero de esp&eacute;cies, o seu grau de abund&acirc;ncia e a aproxima&ccedil;&atilde;o da distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o das mesmas. Este &iacute;ndice mede a probabilidade de um indiv&iacute;duo, retirado de uma amostra constitu&iacute;da por <i>s</i> esp&eacute;cies e <i>n</i> indiv&iacute;duos, pertencerem a um determinado <i>taxa</i> (Magurran, 1988).</p>

	    <p>A partir do c&aacute;lculo do &iacute;ndice anterior, pode ser calculada a <i>equitatibilidade (J),</i> que traduz a rela&ccedil;&atilde;o entre a diversidade real e a diversidade m&aacute;xima te&oacute;rica. Varia entre zero e um e quanto mais pr&oacute;xima de um for a equitatibilidade mais equilibrada &eacute; a distribui&ccedil;&atilde;o das esp&eacute;cies na comunidade. Valores de equitatibilidade pr&oacute;ximos de zero significam que todos ou quase todos os indiv&iacute;duos s&atilde;o da mesma esp&eacute;cie.</p>

	    <p>&nbsp;</p>
	
	    <p><b>Resultados</b></p>

	    <p>Verificou&#45;se que <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i> ocorre em comunidades de clareira de bosques, seja em mosaico com comunidades arbustivas, seja com prados vivazes, no subcoberto e clareiras dos bosques de <i>Quercus pyrenaica</i> ou <i>Castanea sativa</i>, nas encostas N, NE e NW da serra da Gardunha. Assim, reconhece&#45;se o enquadramento na alian&ccedil;a <i>Agrostion castellanae</i> da classe <i>Stipo&#45;Agrostietea castellanae</i> (Quadro 1). Observam&#45;se caracter&iacute;sticas como <i>Dactylis glomerata</i> subsp. <i>lusitanica</i>, <i>Centaurea aristata</i> e <i>Rumex acetosella</i> subsp. <i>angiocarpus</i> (Quadro 1). Ocupa solos derivados de granito e xisto de textura franco&#45;arenosa a franco&#45;argilosa. O <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i> permanece nos taludes do cerejal biol&oacute;gico, n&atilde;o se verificando aqui, contudo, a ocorr&ecirc;ncia de muitas das esp&eacute;cies caracter&iacute;sticas de <i>Stipo&#45;Agrostietea castellanae</i>.</p>

	    <p>Os valores de riqueza e diversidade flor&iacute;stica mais elevados (figura 1) verificaram&#45;se nas comunidades de <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i> em carvalhais. Este facto poder&aacute; ser explicado pela possibilidade de nestes bosques existir um maior banco de sementes, sendo que, estes constituem o bosque natural potencial neste territ&oacute;rio biogeogr&aacute;fico. Por outro lado, estes carvalhais apresentam um mosaico de vegeta&ccedil;&atilde;o mais diversificado alternando, muito frequentemente, com as suas v&aacute;rias etapas seriais arbustivas e herb&aacute;ceas, traduzindo&#45;se assim, numa maior diversidade de esp&eacute;cies.</p>

	    <p>De acordo com a Figura 1, verifica&#45;se que apesar de os valores de riqueza e diversidade flor&iacute;stica no castin&ccedil;al e cerejal se revelarem equivalentes, salienta&#45;se o elevado interesse conservacionista do castin&ccedil;al estudado. Este apresenta uma maturidade fitocen&oacute;tica muito elevada, ao mesmo tempo que o seu elevado grau de cobertura reduz bastante a entrada de luz, limitando assim, o desenvolvimento de esp&eacute;cies anuais e heli&oacute;filas. Por outro lado, nas parcelas de cerejal, as comunidades de <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i> contactam muito frequentemente com comunidades anuais de <i>Helianthemetea guttatae</i>, favorecidas pela mobiliza&ccedil;&atilde;o do solo e pela exposi&ccedil;&atilde;o solar. Contudo estas comunidades anuais s&atilde;o de reduzido valor para conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o.</p>

<body><![CDATA[<p><b>Conclus&atilde;o</b></p>

	    <p>A gest&atilde;o dos habitats onde ocorre <i>Asphodelus bento&#45;rainhae</i> &eacute; fundamental para a preserva&ccedil;&atilde;o da esp&eacute;cie bem como para a conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o da biodiversidade associada &agrave;s suas comunidades<i>.</i> Deste ponto de vista, h&aacute; maior interesse em conservar as &aacute;reas de carvalhal e castin&ccedil;al sendo, assim, &uacute;til promover uma maior liga&ccedil;&atilde;o entre as mesmas, atrav&eacute;s de corredores ecol&oacute;gicos e zonas tamp&atilde;o que garantam um <i>continuum naturale</i> e melhorem a sua conectividade.</p>

	    <p>Ser&aacute; importante promover a sustentabilidade econ&oacute;mica do cerejal favorecendo ao mesmo tempo a conserva&ccedil;&atilde;o do <i>A. bento&#45;rainhae</i>, sendo que a gest&atilde;o dos habitats onde a esp&eacute;cie ocorre &eacute; fundamental para a sua preserva&ccedil;&atilde;o, bem como da comunidade de que faz parte.</p>
