</abstract>

The main objective is to understand the influence of these events on women's quality of life, using as a evaluation instrument the F-84 Quality of Life Assessment Survey. We also compare the patient's group health status with a group of women «without disease», that had never been subjected to any kind of gynaecological surgery, in order to estimate the effects of these events in different aspects of health, assessed with the multidimensional health scale, the SF-36 Health Survey. Different aspects of the psychology of quality of life assessment are discussed, as well as the results of the work done in this area with cancer patients, and hypothesis are raised to explain the results.
</abstract>
