RESUMO
Tem havido reconhecimento crescente da importância dos processos psicológicos na experiência da saúde e da doença. Actualmente, o aconselhamento psicológico nos contextos da saúde e da doença relaciona-se com a mudança verificada na morbilidade: ênfase crescente na promoção da saúde e na prevenção da doença, aumento dos tratamentos de longa duração com maior ênfase no controlo do que na cura, e participação activa do sujeito doente. Este artigo revê aspectos do aconselhamento psicológico em saúde: objectivos, algumas perspectivas teóricas, necessidade e utilidade do aconselhamento, aplicações nos cuidados de saúde primários e secundários, eficiência e formação.

ABSTRACT
The importance of psychological processes in the experience of health and illness has become increasingly recognized. Counselling psychology in the context of health and illness is related to the change of morbility: the increasing emphasis on health promotion and illness prevention, increase in long-term treatment with emphasis on control rather than cure and active participation of the patient. This article reviews counselling psychology objectives in the health context, some theoretical perspectives, counselling problems in primary and secondary health care, effectiveness and training.
