RESUMO
O presente estudo insere-se num projecto de investigação mais vasto sobre o contexto psicossocial dos maus tratos e negligência à criança em Portugal. Foi especificamente concebido para analisar a prevalência de história de abuso na infância e adolescência em pais portugueses na comunidade.
Os novecentos e trinta e dois pais (506 mães e 426 pais) da amostra do estudo, seleccionados na comunidade através de escolas do 1.o ciclo do Ensino Básico, situadas na região Norte do País, completaram a versão portuguesa do Childhood History Questionnaire (CHQ, Milner, Robertson, & Rogers, 1990).
]]> Os resultados ilustram os cuidados recebidos, assim como a prevalência de história de abuso físico (com e sem sequelas) e sexual, na infância e adolescência dos pais da amostra. Ilustram aspectos relevantes da história de abuso físico e sexual dos participantes no estudo, tais como: idade de ocorrência, recorrência do abuso, perpetrador(es) e tipo de comportamento abusivo.Palavras-chave: História de abuso na infância, pais na comunidade.
ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted as a part of a larger research concerning the psychosocial context of child abuse and neglect. It was specifically designed to analyze the prevalence of the history of abuse in Portuguese parents from the community.
Nine hundred and thirty two parents (506 mothers and 426 fathers), composing our community parents' sample, that were selected through public primary schools from the Northern area of Portugal, and completed the Portuguese version of the Childhood History Questionnaire (CHQ, Milner, Robertson, & Rogers, 1990).
Results illustrate the received care, as the prevalence of child and adolescent physical (with and without sequelae) and sexual abuse history in community parents. They show relevant aspects about participant's history of physical and sexual abuse, such as: age of its occurrence, abuse recurrence, kind of perpetrators and abusive behavior.
