RESUMO
O presente trabalho que tem por quadro de referência o Paradigma Ecológico-Ambiental da velhice, sustentado no Modelo ambiental de Lawton, procura averiguar «Quais os níveis de Bem Estar de um grupo de idosos residentes em meio rural», tentando ainda identificar «Que variáveis se constituem como mais importantes para o Bem Estar destes idosos». Constituiu-se para tal uma amostra de 40 pessoas residentes em meio rural (concelho de Mação), às quais foi solicitada resposta a um questionário adaptado para o efeito e à Escala de Ânimo de Lawton. Os resultados evidenciaram a existência de níveis médios de Bem Estar, apontando para uma adequada relação idoso/meio.

ABSTRACT
]]> The Ecological Paradigm of old age and particularly Lawton's Ecological Model are these study frameworks. We intended to know the levels of Psychological Well-Being of rural elderly and to identify which are the most important variables of Psychological Well-Being in these elderly. Our sample consisted of 40 rural people (living in Mação) who completed the Portuguese version of the Philadelphia Geriatric Center Morale Scale and a questionnaire designed by us. Our results show medium levels of Psychological Well-Being, pointing to a suitable relation between the elderly and the environment.Key words: Well-Being, elderly, rural.
