RESUMO

A utilização de sistemas de classificação diagnóstica em saúde mental da primeira infância é um assunto controverso. A partir da sua experiência clínica, os autores descrevem o processo que os levou à escolha da DC: 0-3. Descreve-se o contributo deste sistema de classificação para a prática clínica, assim como os resultados obtidos. Discute-se as vantagens e dificuldades na utilização dos diferentes eixos da DC: 0-3 com a ajuda de vinhetas clínicas.

ABSTRACT

The use of diagnostic classifications in infancy and early childhood clinical practice is a controversial issue. Based on their clinical experience, the authors describe the steps that led them towards selecting DC: 0-3 as a reference framework. The new inputs brought from this framework to clinical practice, as well as results from its application are presented. Some advantages and pitfalls of the practical usage of the different axes of DC: 0-3 are discussed, with reference to clinical vignettes.
